Replace or Quit

I came to the decision that I just don't have the patience or skill to do a lot of the Nearly Insane blocks. Some of them are just not fun. I have a hate, hate, detest relationship with inset seams. I would rather go to the gym and run on the treadmill for an hour than do an inset seam. LOL! The blocks below are replacements for block #31. I made the one on the right first, which looks closer to the original. I tried to replicate it but after many hours all attempts were thrown in the trash. Instead I came up with the one on the left. I took it from the Dear Jane software and made it in 30 minutes. Ahhhh, fun again. This will be the first of many replacement blocks I will make. The block below is a real Nearly Insane block. FUN!
The blocks below are for my "Applique Affair" quilt in flannels and wool. I finished prepping all the blocks and now I just have to sit and sew.

Yes Kimmy. That is how brutal inset seams are. LOL!

I really like your applique blocks, they look great!

I know exactly what you mean about inset seams! I HATE THEM TOO!! I have a very hard time doing them. I think if you just replaced those blocks with the inset seams, it will just make the quilt that much more personal and yours!

Aren't you insane yet? My God. How big is that thing, anyway? I mean, I realize each 6 inch square has 634 pieces to it, but how many squares are there? I would have quit by now, LMAO! You rock!

I don't hate inset seams, but if you do, just replace them. Quilting should be fun.
You made beautiful blocks again !

Wow !!! SPECTACULAR !!! I give you so much credit. I think if it were me, I would have to stop making that NI quilt or I'd be bald....snicker ! Great job.

LOL, you need to learn to hand piece, inset seams are so very easy. Love the replacements which are actually just new design elements for "your" quilt. Love the Applique Affair blocks.

LOL! Hmmm... maybe I need to start this project. I could really use some time on a treadmill! But, oh, how right you are about inset seams.

Your replacement blocks look lovely, and I think they're definitely going to fit right in. And your wool blocks are Gorgeous!

Happy New Year!!!!
