Prep day

I spent several hours prepping hand work yesterday and today. Yesterday I went to Joy's house and we fused our "Home Is Where The Heart Is" BOM. It is amazing how long one block takes to put together. Now I have the chore of blanket stitching it. I just hope I can get it done before April rolls around the corner.

Today I prepped another "Angel's Story", "Tisket Tasket", "Christmas Wish" and the last three "Affairs of the Heart" blocks. My hands are numb from cutting and ironing a zillion small pieces. I still have the medallion to prep on my "Vintage Valentine". I just don't think I have that in me for a few weeks.

I think I have reached my max on projects. I feel like putting everything away and work on one project until it is finished. OK, maybe one hand and one machine. Well, maybe one applique, one stitchery, one machine pieced, my Dear Jane, my Nearly Insane. HELP!!!!!!!! No wonder I came down with Shingles last month.

You are funny! You do have a lot of projects but they are all so beautiful. I think that is what happened to me...I got overwhelmed. I was working on the CWLL, CWD, Nearly Insane and DJ, all at the same time and I got really burned out.

Mass prep always feels overwhelming. Just take it one block at a time, and enjoy the process. You are doing an amazing job-- I'm in awe of all of your beautiful work. :)

Wishing you a great week and Happy sewing!

pobrecita. I know exactly what you are going through.
I have to pick a day to quilt, piece, hand applique, garden, etc.... so many decisions.

It's like a frenzy of creative overload isn't it? We get so excited seeing so many inspirational ideas on everyone's blogs, want to try them all... and next thing you know chaos rules the day!

When I get to that point, I go "off grid" for awhile... meaning I'll post to my blog, but I stop reading other peoples for a couple of months. I get caught up and back on track.

C.J.

I don't know why I feel the need to keep up with all of these projects. I may just bag them up and work on one at a time.

Go ahead, Bag them up now, Yvette. Because come the weekend you're going to want to "just play".

You've been on creative overload..(oops I see CJ already said that...LOL)..Maybe it's time to take a breather - take this week off to sit and chill on your lunch breaks.

Your projects will always be there waiting for your return.

It sure feels like we spend more time preparing, then stitching. Your work is beautiful.

Oh! not Shingles. I have heard how awful they can be. Did you know there is a shot you can get now to help prevent shingles from attacking you?

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I love the March wall hanging. I'll try to follow your example and make some wall hangings from those embroidery blocks that I have hanging around.

I know how you feel...sometimes I long to go back to the day when I bought the fabric for a quilt and then simply made it. Right now I have soooo many things in progress, but at least I don't get bored!

Just checking to see if you are feeling better after getting the shingles. Have a great weekend.

You're so brave...I had to drop most of those for simpler projects in hopes that I could do those at a different stage of life...I see from your comments the time commitment it takes.

Don't get too overwhelmed. You can always ignore things for a while. :) Though, now that you've done all the prep, you'll probably whip through your projects now.

Or...

You need to go on a retreat. You get sooo much done there. If you want, I know of a retreat the same weekend as our big quilt show here. Plus! The quilter of distinction this year is Aie Rossman (Affairs of the Hearts). Tempted? :)

You won the NI draw (Yup, it pays to keep caught up) E-mail me to claim your prize.
