How I Avoided Y-Seams

All my friends know I have a HATE/HATE relationship with inset seams. The picture below is this weeks "Nearly Insane" block I was supposed to do. I tried 2 times, once by hand and once by machine, to get this block done. After 3hrs of mega frustration I threw all my attempts in the trash. I decided to re-draw the pattern. Below is the original pattern. Under that is the one I re-drew. Below that is my finished block. I think it turned out pretty great! No more Y seams for me on this quilt. From now on I will just do it my way.

Rock on. That is so awesome the way you adapted it to work for you! You not only avoided inset seams, but you created a block that really has the flavor of the original as well. Awesome!

Brilliant girl! Don't you want to turn that into a PDF for your Dear Jane dummy blog friend? Great idea.

I love your fabric choices and the way the block turned out. Don't worry, the next one is much simpler.

You did good to change the block to something you were comfortable with. The outcome is wonderful...Well Done Yvette!!

Great idea!! I'm always trying to get rid of seams in a block and figure out an easier way to make them.

Looking good!

Ay dios mio!
Yvette you definetly know what you are doing. I would have never in a million years re-drawn a block. I wouln't even know where to begin.

It's a very pretty y-seamless block!

Y-seams are not difficult. I wish we were not that far apart, than I could learn you.
